About our company.

Phoenix Biotechnology, Inc., a privately held corporation, was incorporated in the State of Texas in March 2003. The company was created through the acquisition of the assets of Anvirlat, Inc., a privately held Nevada corporation controlled by Messrs. Addington and Kost, current officers and directors of the company. The company is currently in its seventh year of a Sponsored Research Agreement with the Pharmaceutical Development Center at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. This research is being conducted in the Pharmaceutical Development Center, Department of Experimental Therapeutics. This research has led to the development of an anti-neoplastic agent that the company has entered into USFDA Phase I Clinical Trials in 2007.
Social responsibility

The Company is focusing its research efforts to develop products that conform with the new paradigm for the socially responsible approach to the treatment of cancer as described by the National Cancer Institute.

The new paradigm seeks to develop therapeutic agents and treatment regimens that will enable physicians to eventually deal with cancer as a chronic condition rather than an acute condition and enable patients to live extended lives with a high or improved quality of life.

Management Team

Crandell Addington, President, Chief Executive Officer, Chairman, and Director. Mr. Addington is a cum laude graduate from Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas, majoring in economics and accounting. Mr. Addington received post-graduate education in various sciences at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Addington has, over the course of 40 years, founded and/or operated successful enterprises ranging from chemical manufacturing to oil and gas exploration, development, and production. Mr. Addington is also President and Chairman of the Board of Anviram, Inc. As a result of his prior and current corporate leadership positions, Mr. Addington has been responsible, among other duties, for interacting with biomedical researchers and clinicians both in the United States and Latin America.

Lou Kost, Jr., Executive Vice President, Secretary and Director, Lou Kost, Jr. is Secretary of Phoenix Biotechnology, Inc. Mr. Kost attended the University of Texas at Austin, and St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, where he studied marketing and financial management. Mr. Kost has been at various times a venture capitalist and management consultant. Mr. Kost is a former Texas state representative who served on the Banking Committee. Mr. Kost is currently a Director and Secretary of Anviram, Inc. Among other duties, Mr. Kost is responsible for interacting with investment bankers and the shareholders of the Company.

Carlos Torres, Chief Information Technology Officer, Mr. Torres holds a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Business Administration from the Universidad Autonoma de Bucaramanga in Colombia, and a Masters of Science Degree in Management of Technology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. While in Colombia, Mr. Torres worked for a major food processor as the general manager and for Industrias NECARTE as a Director of Industrial Relations and Chief Information Officer. Mr. Torres is certified as a Microsoft Certified Professional and also holds a Certification of Professional Development in Geographic Information Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Among other duties, Mr. Torres ensures that IT is an integral component of our business strategy in order to enable, facilitate and proactively generate competitive advantage for top line growth and operational optimization for bottom line performance.

Jeffrey S. Thompson, Esq., Director . Mr. Thompson lives in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and is currently a member of the law firm of Motley Rice LLP in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, a law firm with a nationwide civil litigation practice. Mr. Thompson earned his B.A. with honors from Northeast Missouri State University in 1982. He then spent seven years as Branch Manager, Regional Manager, then Operations Manager for Equipment Renewal Company in Houston, Texas. Mr. Thompson studied law at the University of Houston , where he graduated magna cum laude in 1992. During law school, Mr. Thompson served as editor in chief for the Houston Law Review. Upon graduation, Mr. Thompson clerked for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit before entering private practice.

Macdonald T. Haskell, Director. Mr. Haskell is primarily involved in private equity and entrepreneurial endeavors. After many years of being an Artist Manager in the music industry, he has recently become Vice-Chairman of Synchronicity Live™, a global online music community where members can watch live-as-it-happens, real time streaming concerts and musicians can broadcast their shows from anywhere in the world. Mac is a Founder/Partner of Murray Bros. Caddyshack® and Augustinos Italian Steakhouse™ (both restaurants are located in the World Golf Village, FL). Mac is also President of MTH Ventures, Inc. (private equity co.), a Managing Partner of E.A.A. Investment Group, LLP (real estate co.) and a Director of St. Vincent’s Foundation, Inc., which benefits St. Vincent’s Hospital of Jacksonville, FL. He earned his B.A. in Economics from Hobart College in 1980.

Andrew J. Butler, CPCU, CEBS, ARM, Director. Mr. Butler is currently President of Butler Insurance Service, Inc. and Butler Benefit Service, Inc. He earned his B.S. with honors from Babson College in 1984 and his MBA from The College of Insurance in New York City in 1986. While in New York City, he worked for AIG and was promoted to Senior Underwriter in 18 months. After which time, Mr. Butler became Executive Vice President of Cottingham & Butler, Inc., where he started the commercial marketing department, managed their claim department and helped to more than triple the size of the company.

John W. Creamer, Director. Mr. Creamer is currently an independent financial consultant to clients seeking Wall Street investment banking. He holds a B.S. from The Ohio State University, and is a Certified Public Accountant. During a 37-year career with Ernst & Young, he served as the Partner-in-Charge of worldwide services provided to American Express, Fireman’s Fund, Bankers Trust, Shearson Lehman Hutton, Lehman Brothers and Bank of New York. In his role as Partner-in Charge of these blue chip clients, John supervised the work of several hundred professionals while developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with not only senior financial management but also with the CEOs and other members of senior management. John was considered by his partners to be a role model for developing and maintaining outstanding relationships with senior client management and boards of directors. In addition to his career at Ernst & Young, John has been actively involved in the not-for-profit sector. For over 20 years, John has been the President of the National Board of Directors of Young Audiences, Inc., the nation’s leading source of arts-in-education services, with oversight responsibility for 32 chapters and affiliate organizations nationwide and a combined annual budget exceeding $25 million. He also serves on the Board of Boys Hope Girls Hope, a St. Louis-based organization, which, through its chapters, provides housing and scholarships to disadvantaged students. In 2003 he was appointed to the Colleges of Arts and Sciences Advisory Committee at The Ohio State University.
